Prior to producing my own Originals & Remixes , I started producing mashups. Today, there are more than 50 mashups made by Craaze – in every conceivable combination. Kings of Leon and classical music? Exists. Girly piano pop and gangsta rap? That exists too. Punk rock and Ellie Goulding? Likewise. Have you become curious? Sex on fire (Kings of Leon x Ludovico Einaudi)
If you already know any of my mashups, chances are it's this one. Over 160.000 plays and a Deep House Remix with 5+ million plays make Sex on Fire my best-received mashup so far.
This is probably due to the mashup's vibe. Sex on Fire transforms the cheerful, danceable original into a melancholy mourning song that stirs up emotions on first listen. Definitely not a song for the club – but a memorable experience nonetheless. Worth listening to!
Move a thousand miles, bitch (Vanessa Carlton x Ludacris & Mystikal)
What do you get when combining one of the most girly pop songs and one of the most gangsta rap songs? You get Move a Thousand Miles, Bitch. Don't let the piano intro deceive you – once the beat drops, it's a different world.
There are mashups that impress and there are mashups that fall into the "light entertainment" category. This mashup certainly belongs to the second category. But it's definitely worth a listen!
Burn Audience (Rise Against x Ellie Goulding)
Punk rock is not everyone's cup of tea. I like it and count artists like Rise Against and Bad Religion among my favorite bands. Nevertheless – or because of this? – I've turned Audience of One by Rise Against into a pop song a few years ago.
My opinion: This thing bangs! The strong instrumental of Ellie Goulding's Burn goes extremely well with the rough vocals of Rise Against. The result: a mashup with lots of pop, lots of punk and lots of energy!
Set fire to the lollipop (Lil Wayne x Adele)
Set Fire to the Rain by Adele is a classic – but not at all club-friendly. This mashup changes that by putting Adele's vocals to the beat of Lil Wayne's classic Lollipop The result: a chill but danceable ex-ballad.
Summertime Fly (Lana del Rey x Ludovico Einaudi)
The combination of pop vocals and classical instrumentals is fascinating – the resulting mash-ups often have a completely different energy level than the original. This is also the case here: Summertime Fly is like Summertime Sadness , but with more sadness.
Snow Lights (Red Hot chili Peppers x Ellie Goulding)
Snow is one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' best-known songs. Lights has one of the most laid-back instrumentals among Ellie Goulding's songs. So it makes sense to combine the two. The result is an electronic reinterpretation of a classic.
I Follow Summerbreeze (Stone|Van Linden x Lykke Li)
This is the mashup I play most often in clubs. Why? Quite simple: With I Follow Rivers everyone sings along, but it's not energetic enough for a prime-time banger. This mashup changes things – It's a summery EDM hit with a good vibe!
No Beef H8rs (Calvin Harris x 6 weitere künstler)
Mashups don't always consist of two songs that are combined with each other. Sometimes there are six – like this one. If you're looking for a throwback to the Party Hits 2013 in one song, you've come to the right place with No Beer H8rs , that's for sure!
One Love Phunkshock (Blue x Matroda)
Need a bit of nostalgia? Who remembers One Love by Blue? Who always found this song too boring? If you feel addressed, listen to this mashup. Why? Just this much: Matroda makes dubstep. Very hard dubstep.
